Ryan Humbert performs on Sirius/XM’s Coffee House

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RYAN HUMBERT PERFORMS ON SIRIUS/XM’S COFFEE HOUSE

Rock Ridge Music artist and singer-songwriter Ryan Humbert visited the Sirius/XM Studios in New York City last week, where he taped a five-song performance for The Coffee House (channel 31 on Sirius, channel 55 on XM), which is set to air Thursday, July 26th at noon eastern and will repeat that night at midnight.  While there, Humbert taped live versions of  “Not to Me,” “Incognito,” “Everything,” a cover of the Simon & Garfunkel classic “Sounds of Silence,” and his current single, “I Will Find My Own Way,” which is getting airplay on the channel several times daily.

Says Humbert of the performance opportunity:  “Being asked to come in and record an in-studio performance at the Sirius/XM offices in NYC was quite an honor.  Looking around at all of the signatures on the walls of our idols who had been there before us was very humbling.  Everyone was great to work with and the sound was incredible.  It was something we won’t ever forget.”

The Sirius/XM visit coincided with Humbert’s mini promotional tour, which saw him performing in New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC, last week.  Humbert is on the road in support of his latest album, Sometimes The Game Plays You, which came out of June 12, 2012.  It’s an Americana pop album with big, modern hooks steeped in the cherished heritage of great American songwriters like Bruce Springsteen, Lucinda Williams, and Bob Dylan.

Executive produced by Jill Bacon Madden and produced by Humbert in Nashville with engineer Brian Harrison (Shelby Lynne, Lucinda Williams, Garrison Starr), Sometimes The Games Plays You captures the warmth of the music live on tape. It is the follow-up to 2010’s Old Souls, New Shoes. Humbert has also released an acoustic album, two more full-length albums, and two duet albums with frequent collaborator and backup vocalist Emily Bates. He has maintained an active touring schedule with an impressive 150 shows-per-year itinerary that has had him opening for such diverse and esteemed artists as Train, Chrissie Hynde (The Pretenders), Elvis Costello, Chris Isaak, Third Eye Blind, Matt Nathanson, Pete Yorn, Foreigner, The Zac Brown Band, Josh Ritter, The Gin Blossoms, and Shelby Lynne.

Confirmed Ohio tour dates are listed below.  A more extensive national tour, planned for the fall, will be announced soon.  Additionally, Humbert is set to open for labelmate Brendan James for three shows in August in Ohio and Michigan.

Fans can hear Bain’s first single, “Rockin’ That Trailer,” at radio now, and it is currently available on iTunes.  The music video for the song has received over a million views on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7eLTbp09tU).  CMA Close Up magazine has also named Bain one of the “Who New To Watch 2012” artists, and she’s toured in 2012 with Bucky Covington.  “Rockin’ That Trailer” is the first single from Bain’s forthcoming album, All-American Country Girl, which is due for release in 2013.  The single also captures some of what makes Bain’s style so unique and alluring among modern country artists—Bain frequently combines big rock guitars and textbook rock attitude with her more traditional leanings, for a captivating, head-bobbing audio thrill ride encompassing a lifetime of musical influences.

Michael McDermott to release Hit Me Back in September

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 12, 2012

MICHAEL MCDERMOTT TO RELEASE HIT ME BACK IN SEPTEMBER

Chicago singer-songwriter Michael McDermott will be releasing his next album, Hit Me Back, on September 25, 2012, via Rock Ridge Music (with national distribution via ADA).  It was produced by CJ Eiriksson (who engineered albums for U2 and Matchbox 20, as well as McDermott’s 2007 album Noise From Words).

For the first time in his recording career, McDermott is a father, a philanthropic entrepreneur, and has experienced the loss of an adored parent.  All are major life changes which have found achingly honest expression in his songs.  Hit Me Back also exudes McDermott’s trademark embrace of faith and hope in the face of adversity.  The lyrics are, as always, uniquely evocative: McDermott sings in poetry; his tunes are literate story-songs.  On the haunting “Ever After,” he offers the listener palpable insight into the jarring confusion and doubt felt in the days that followed his mother’s passing (in October 2011).  The wryly observed title track puts a new spin on fighting a long-time nemesis, alcohol.  His demon-banishing in “Scars From Another  Life” is echoed in the love-is-redemption refrains of “Let It Go.”  The exploration of temptation and bowing to its siren call is explored in the Americana-laced “A Deal With The Devil.”

It’s been quite a ride since McDermott’s talent for mature and lyrically dense songwriting caught the eye—and ear—of then-talent scout Brian Koppelman (now a screenwriter, novelist, director, and producer; best known as the co-writer of “Ocean’s Thirteen” and “Rounders”), who immediately signed him to Giant Records.  His first album, 620 West Surf, boasted a Billboard Hot 100 charting single, (“A Wall I Must Climb”). Influenced by such musical giants as Bob Dylan and Van Morrison, McDermott continued to write introspective, character-driven songs that won him an enduring band of appreciative followers.  McDermott released five more albums in the decade that followed—some with label distribution, others independently.  Hit Me Back is the follow-up to 2009’s Hey La Hey.  In the liner notes for McDermott’s self-titled album, bestselling author Stephen King wrote:  “Michael McDermott is one of the best songwriters in the world and possibly the greatest undiscovered rock ‘n’ roll talent of the last 20 years.”

Through the years, he has played countless live shows and plans to tour heavily in support of the forthcoming album (see confirmed tour dates below; more will be forthcoming very soon).  Fans in select cities had a special in June:  McDermott played several new album preview shows in New York, Philadelphia, Freehold (NJ), and Chicago.  For fans in Austin, McDermott is planning a residency at the Saxon Pub in September and October.

Todd Carey to release The Duets Project EP on July 17, 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 10, 2012

TODD CAREY TO RELEASE THE DUETS PROJECT EP ON JULY 17, 2012

Brooklyn-based and Chicago-born singer-songwriter Todd Carey will be releasing his EP, entitled The Duets Project, exclusively online on July 17, 2012.  Says Carey of the EP:  “The Duets Project came about in a very natural and organic way. Fans and friends had been requesting stripped-down and intimate recordings of songs from my catalogue.”

Featured on the EP are five amazingly talented women dueting with Carey:  Alysse Fischer, Dawn Mitschele, Daphne Willis, Sarah Miles, and Amber Rubarth.  Says Carey of his choice to record duets:  “Having the material and desire to collaborate with a variety of female singers for a long time, it became the perfect opportunity to combine both ideas. While writing and recording the high-energy pop music for my next album, it became a quiet and meditative outlet artistically. It was also a great chance to debut a songwriting direction I’ve been exploring with the track “Float Away” [a track on the EP].  I’m really happy with the resulting EP and to be working with the Rock Ridge Music label.”

Carey’s most recent release, 2010’s After The Morning After EP, hit the Top 40 on iTunes’ Pop Chart and was produced by Mikal Blue (Colbie Caillat, Five for Fighting).  Previously, he released three solo albums (Elevate, Revolving World, and Watching Waiting [which came out through Universal’s Fontana Distribution]) and an additional EP (Whitefish Bay Sessions).  Carey is no stranger to touring and has criss-crossed the country repeatedly, playing over 250 shows in support of After The Morning After.  He’s toured with and performed on stage with numerous artists including Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Marc Broussard, Keaton Simons and Matt Duke.  Music from his Watching Waiting album was featured in the film “Palo Alto” and on MTV’s “The Real World.”  Billboard magazine called Watching Waiting “…custom-made for the top of the pop charts… with a witty edge.”

Carey is hitting the road again this summer for the “Float Away Tour” with Bushwalla, which has already stopped in Milwaukee at Summerfest this month.  Additionally, Carey has two dates with Tony Lucca in Florida in September before he performs at Hotel Carolina in Isle of Palms, SC.  (See below for a list of tour dates.)

Ingram Hill to release new album in August

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 9, 2012

INGRAM HILL TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM IN AUGUST

Memphis, TN-based four-piece Ingram Hill is set to release their next album, Ingram Hill, on August 28, 2012, via Rock Ridge Music.  With more than a decade of recording and touring under their collective belts, the new album marks a time of rebirth for the band:  Ingram Hill drifts much deeper into the tones of traditional country than the outfit’s more rock-influenced prior works.  Entirely self-recorded, produced, and mixed, and partially financed by many generous fans, the forthcoming release captures Ingram Hill in their truly natural state.

“We weren’t really sure what vibe of a record we wanted to make,” says singer/guitarist Justin Moore.  “And I think when you put three kids from Tennessee in a room and leave us to our own devices, it just naturally ends up sounding a bit country. This is the first record we’ve put straight-up banjo and steel guitar on; that’s instrumentation we’ve never used on a record before.”

“Justin and I have been working together for more than a decade now, and this is the first time we’ve been completely left alone to our own devices to turn out our product,” says guitarist Phil Bogard. “I think we’ve grown enough in our songwriting that we’re pretty good at doing pre-production ourselves at this point, and pretty good at tightening up each other’s songs. We’ve got the drill down. I wouldn’t be lying to say I think this is the best record we’ve done. As artists we’ve found a maturity level, and have grown up in a sense where we’re able to lead ourselves onto the battlefield.”

Ingram Hill was formed in Memphis, TN in the summer of 2000, after lifelong friends Moore and Bogard attended the University of Memphis. The band spent much of the next year and a half touring throughout the south and southeast, and then released the EP Until Now in 2002. More touring ensued, leading to the group’s 2004 full-length debut—the Rick Beato-produced June’s Picture Show—which spawned Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Hits “Will I Ever Make it Home” and “Almost Perfect.” The 2006 Why The Wait EP tided over listeners eager for another release, until the band dropped the 2007 full-length Cold In California. The group’s ongoing partnership with Rock Ridge Music birthed the first Ingram Hill release for the label—2010’s Look Your Best (again produced by Rick Beato)—and the digital-only 2011 acoustic album, Blue Room Afternoon.

The band continues to tour relentlessly, to date sharing stages with Hootie and the Blowfish, Johnny Lang, Maroon 5, Guster, Better Than Ezra, and Hanson.  Tour plans for the new album call for an East Coast-Midwest run through September (with Sam Grow and Jared McCloud opening), with more touring planned for the rest of 2012 (see below for list of all currently confirmed tour dates).  The group—which includes Moore, Bogard, and bassist Zach Kirk (drummer Mic Capdevielle played on the new album)— is eager to bring its latest music to fans everywhere.
