BRENDAN JAMES RELEASES VIDEO FOR “NOTHIN’ BUT LOVE”

Video Is A Platform For Marriage Equality And Gay Rights; Celebs And LGBT Press Already Supporting Single

Charleston, SC-based singer-songwriter Brendan James has just released his video for his new single, “Nothin’ But Love” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fE0EduRhlao); the clip features a number of loving couples of all types and is a platform for marriage and equality and gay rights.  In addition to coverage already by a number of LGBT press outlets (Instinct Magazine has called James their “straight ally,” while After Elton, Boy Culture, After Ellen, QClick, GA Voice and others have written about it), the video has also been retweeted by a number of celebrities including:  Boy George, Michael Urie (“Ugly Betty,” “Partners”), Melissa Claire Egan (“The Young & the Restless”), Graham Patrick Martin (“Major Crimes,” “Two & A Half Men”), Keith Powell (“30 Rock”), Sarah Drew (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Anthony Rapp (“RENT”), and Hannah Marks (“Amazing Spiderman,” “Necessary Roughness”).  The song is from James’ most recent album, Hope In Transition, which was released by Rock Ridge Music on July 10, 2012.  The video was directed by Jeremy O’Keefe (“Somewhere Slow,” “Wrestling”).

Says James of the decision to use his video as a platform for marriage equality:  “While on tour in September, I stopped in Atlanta at the request of an old college friend, Jeremy O’Keefe. Jeremy is now a successful filmmaker who was spending the summer in Atlanta.  He asked if I would shoot a special music video with him, using my new song, ‘Nothin’ But Love,’ as a platform for marriage equality and gay rights.  I said yes without blinking an eye.  Jeremy is gay, and to think that he is denied the same marriage rights that I am is unbelievable to me.  He invited 30 people of different races, ages and lifestyles to come and lip-sync my song that day. And the result was overwhelming.  I’d like to thank everyone involved for the love and kindness they brought to the set that day, and for showing me first hand just how humble and meaningful their cause really is.  I hope this simple video helps tip the scales towards love and marriage equality in this country.  It’s definitely time.”

Says the video director O’Keefe about the cause:  “Homosexuality is not a subculture. Homosexuality does not discriminate.  Homosexuality is part of every family, every race, every religion, every economic class – every walk of life. Brendan James’ ‘Nothin’ But Love’ is a simple, beautiful and universal message that can take us beyond the fear, beyond the hatred and move towards love. An equal love, with equal rights for all.   The time is now.”

James is hoping to partner with an appropriate charity to be the recipient of donations from the sale of the single.  James and O’Keefe encourage those who are interested in learning more and becoming involved in the marriage equality movement to visit Human Rights Campaign (http://www.hrc.org) or Legalize Love (http://www.legalizelovebug.com).

Hope In Transition, which reached #14 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, is James’ most hopeful and invigorating collection of music in his critically-acclaimed, seven-year career.  He blurs the genre lines between shimmering soul, confessional folk, and goose-bump inducing pop-rock, and keenly balances a timeless sense of organic instrumentation with a playfully experimental penchant for slinky R&B-flavored beats and tasteful electro ambience. Hope In Transition was produced by Max Coane (with additional track production by Julian Coryell).

Prior to Hope In Transition, he released an independent EP as well as two albums on the Decca label, one of which featured the song, “The Lucky Ones,” which the U.S. women’s soccer team played in their locker room to psych themselves up prior to every game they played in the Summer 2012 Olympics, including their gold medal-winning game on August 9th.

The Derry, New Hampshire-native started his professional career in New York City. During this formative time he played over 300 shows, building a robust fanbase touring with such diverse artists as John Mayer, Paula Cole, Keb Mo, Parachute, and Matt White. James garnered widespread exposure through his songs being featured on television shows such as “Private Practice,” “American Idol,” “Bones,” “So You Think You Can Dance,” “Army Wives,” and “One Tree Hill.”  He also made TV appearances on “Rachael Ray” and “CBS Sunday Morning.”  Both of Brendan James’ Decca albums climbed the iTunes Top 10 pop charts—James’ sophomore album, Brendan James, climbed to #1 on the iTunes singer-songwriter charts.

Fiction Family come together once more for long-awaited new album

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 1, 2012

FICTION FAMILY COME TOGETHER ONCE MORE FOR LONG-AWAITED NEW ALBUM

“FICTION FAMILY REUNION” ARRIVES EVERYWHERE VIA ROCK RIDGE MUSIC ON JANUARY 29th

SECOND COLLABORATION OF JON FOREMAN AND SEAN WATKINS HIGHLIGHTED BY SOULFUL FIRST SINGLE, “UP AGAINST THE WALL”

“HEAVY & LIGHT” TOUR, PRESENTED BY TO WRITE LOVE ON HER ARMS, SLATED TO TRAVEL NORTH AMERICA BEGINNING IN JANUARY

Newark, NJ-based Rock Ridge Music has signed Fiction Family to a label deal and is now set to release the band’s eagerly anticipated sophomore album (with distribution via ADA).  “FICTION FAMILY REUNION” arrives in stores and all DSPs on January 29, 2013.

The second full-length partnership of Jon Foreman (Switchfoot) and Sean Watkins (Nickel Creek, Works Progress Administration), “FICTION FAMILY REUNION” sees these two distinctive artists once again offering up their idiosyncratic blend of folk flavor, classic pop arrangements, and expertly etched songcraft.  Where 2009’s self-titled debut was almost entirely self-created by the two musician/songwriters working in their own home studios, the new album finds the duo joined by touring bassist Tyler Chester and drummer Aaron Redfield, both now full-fledged Family members.  With Foreman and Watkins leading on vocals, guitars, and any other instrument that might happen to strike their fancy, Fiction Family have conjured a remarkably rich collection defined by its collaborative chemistry.  Songs such as the tender “Damaged” and the soulful first single, “Up Against The Wall,” reverberate with lyrical resonance and sonic ingenuity, the extraordinary natural sound of a gifted band in full flight.

“FICTION FAMILY REUNION” was recorded at Switchfoot’s Spot X Studio in Carlsbad, CA over a series of sessions spanning 2010 to early 2012, the lengthy process necessitated by Foreman and Watkins’ always busy schedules. A family in more than just name only, the band was joined on a number of tracks by Nickel Creek fiddle player Sara Watkins and multi-instrumentalist John Mark Painter.

Fiction Family will celebrate the release of “FICTION FAMILY REUNION” with a major North American tour presented by To Write Love on Her Arms, a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide.  TWLOHA’s “Heavy & Light Tour” is slated to hit 15 cities across the U.S. and Canada, beginning in mid-January 2013.  Full details will be announced shortly – please visit www.twloha.com for more information.

Foreman and Watkins first became fast friends when Switchfoot and Nickel Creek shared the top of the bill at their hometown music festival, San Diego’s famed Street Scene.  E-mail addresses were exchanged and the duo began writing songs with little goal other than that of two friends sharing the joy of making music together.  Recording proved the obvious next step and in 2009, Fiction Family’s eponymous debut album was released to both popular success and critical fanfare. “(Foreman and Watkins) make a pretty solid team,” noted Paste, continuing, “Foreman is an excellent writer, singer and arranger, and Watkins’ accompaniment on harmony vocals, guitar, bass, keys – even mandolin, ukulele and 12-string – lighten the intensity and add a rich earthiness.”  NPR’s Ken Tucker praised “FICTION FAMILY” as “delicate, industrious and intricate,” with Billboard hailing its songs as “richly crafted and intriguingly rendered.”  Slant commended “the duo’s intricate vocal harmonies…and stately chamber-pop arrangement(s),” while the Washington Post ruled the album to be “a solid set of near-duets from two diverse, accomplished musicians.” “Foreman and Watkins have been able to produce something truly different from what they have done in the past,” proclaimed AbsolutePunk.net, applauding “FICTION FAMILY” as “a collection of finely-crafted, well-thought out tunes (from) one of music’s most talented guitarists and one of its most gifted songwriters.”

TODD CAREY ANNOUNCES WINTER TOUR

Brooklyn-based and Chicago-born singer-songwriter Todd Carey will be heading out on the road in November and December for his “Winter Tour,” which will visit 13 cities and kicks off in Orlando on November 28th (see full tour schedule below). Carey will share the stage with his touring band for the majority of the dates, while several will find him in a duo setting (a departure from his past solo tours). Joining Carey on the road will be some of his labelmates (JD Eicher, Riley Etheridge Jr., Sarah Miles, Bracher Brown) and some music friends (Sam Grow, Emily Kopp, Honor By August, Daphne Willis, Michael Pearsall, Mary Bragg, Carl Anderson).  Miles and Willis both also appeared on Carey’s EP, The Duets Project, which was released on July 17, 2012.

Carey’s tour is in support of The Duets Project, which came out exclusively online.  Says Carey of the EP:  “The Duets Project came about in a very natural and organic way. Fans and friends had been requesting stripped-down and intimate recordings of songs from my catalog.” Featured on the EP are five amazingly talented women dueting with Carey:  Alysse Fischer, Dawn Mitschele, Daphne Willis, Sarah Miles, and Amber Rubarth.  Carey is hard at work on his next album, which will be released in the first half of 2013.

Prior to this year’s EP, Carey’s previous release, 2010’s After The Morning After EP, hit the Top 40 on iTunes’ Pop Chart and was produced by Mikal Blue (Colbie Caillat, Five for Fighting).  Before that, he released three solo albums (Elevate, Revolving World, and Watching Waiting [which came out through Universal’s Fontana Distribution]) and an additional EP (Whitefish Bay Sessions).

Carey is no stranger to touring and has criss-crossed the country repeatedly.  He’s toured with and performed on stage with numerous artists including Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Marc Broussard, Keaton Simons and Matt Duke.  Music from his Watching Waiting album was featured in the film “Palo Alto” and on MTV’s “The Real World.”  Billboard magazine called Watching Waiting “…custom-made for the top of the pop charts… with a witty edge.”  Carey hit the road over the summer on his “Float Away Tour” with Bushwalla, shared the stage in September with Tony Lucca, and performed as part of Hotel Carolina in Isle of Palms, SC, also in September.

Tony Lucca signs to Adam Levine’s label, 222 Records

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TONY LUCCA SIGNS TO ADAM LEVINE’S LABEL 222 RECORDS

LOS ANGELES, CA, September 25, 2012 Maroon 5 frontman and The Voice coach Adam Levine announced today that The Voice finalist and “Team Adam” member Tony Lucca has signed to 222 Records. Tony is set to release his album next year, joining label mates Matthew Morrison, Diego Boneta and Rozzi Crane who also have upcoming projects on 222’s record release schedule.

“It’s cool to see how a gut instinct can manifest itself in such unimaginable ways,” said Tony Lucca. “Working with Adam on The Voice truly was an opportunity of a lifetime. Now we’ll get a chance to take that opportunity to the next level. Thinking back to the blind auditions, Adam said he thought I was going to have an amazing career and that he wanted to be a part of it. It’s so cool to see him stay true to his word in such a meaningful way.”

Earlier this year, Tony Lucca captured America’s hearts on The Voice. Lucca’s cover of Hugo’s version of Jay-Z’s “99 Problems” reacted strongly, propelling Lucca to the #3 spot on iTunes Overall Singles sales chart and #1 on iTunes Rock Singles chart. Additionally, Lucca’s duet of “Yesterday” by The Beatles with coach Adam Levine landed Top 5 on iTunes Overall and Pop Singles sales charts.  In 2011, Tony Lucca appeared as himself on NBC’s Parenthood performing his song “Like Love.”  Lucca was also tapped to appear in friend Justin Timberlake’s 901 tequila commercial spot.  His songs have been featured on TV’s Friday Night Lights, Brothers & Sisters, Shark, and Felicity and in Kevin Costner’s feature Open Range. He has been seen on E! Entertainment Television and A&E, and performed numerous times on NBC’s Last Call With Carson Daly.  Over the course of his career, Lucca has shared stages with *NSYNC, Marc Anthony, Macy Gray, Johnny Lang, the late Chris Whitley, Sara Bareilles, and Tyrone Wells.  Lucca has also completed several cooperative tours with Jay Nash and Matt Duke, also known as TFDI.

Levine’s announcement comes on the heels of the premiere of the third season of The Voice, which debuted in September to record #s and rave reviews. Levine, along with music coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo Green and Blake Shelton, joined the #1 NBC hit series The Voice as a coach in 2011—and the show has dominated ratings ever since.

As the front man of GRAMMY Award-winning recording artist Maroon 5, Adam Levine has left an indelible mark on popular music. The primary songwriter for the band and a guitar player, Adam’s talents haven given Maroon 5 their signature sound and his heartfelt anthems have become part of the fabric of popular music. Maroon 5 has won three Grammy Awards and sold more than 17 million albums. The band’s releases have also gone gold and platinum in over 35 countries. The band is currently ruling the album and Top 40 charts with their new release, Overexposed, as well as singles “Payphone” and “One More Night.”

Patrick Krief signs label deal with Rock Ridge Music

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 25, 2012

PATRICK KRIEF SIGNS LABEL DEAL WITH ROCK RIDGE MUSIC

Montreal-based artist Patrick Krief (longtime guitarist for The Dears) has signed a label deal with Rock Ridge Music and will be releasing his album, Hundred Thousand Pieces, in early 2013 in the United States (with distribution via ADA).  Krief will also be touring the U.S. in support of the album in 2013.

Says Krief of the partnership with Rock Ridge Music: “I’m super excited to have a partner in the U.S. for the first time as a solo artist. Rock Ridge is a no nonsense label, very artist friendly, and I am super excited to release this album with them.”

Says Rock Ridge Music CEO Tom Derr of working with Krief:  “When an opportunity to work with someone like Patrick comes along, you don’t ask why, you ask when.”

On the self-produced, self-mixed album, Krief played nearly all the instruments himself (with help from former Black Diamond Bay member Roberto Piccioni), and he also composed the complex, melodically independent string, brass and choir arrangements. Krief was committed to creating music that was strongly evocative, inspired by his work scoring films. The 10 songs on the album deal with his anxieties about growing older and continuing down the financially precarious road of a professional musician.  Hundred Thousand Pieces follows his work with The Dears, his first solo release, 2007’s Take It Or Leave EP, and 2009’s Calm Awaits as part of the band Black Diamond Bay.

While most of Hundred Thousand Pieces was recorded at his Cote-des-Neiges apartment, bits and pieces of it were recorded on his laptop while touring with Black Diamond Bay, the drums were laid down at Mixart studios in the N.D.G. neighborhood of Montreal, and even a few old demo tracks he simply couldn’t re-create made the final mix.

Prior to his solo outings and around the time NME hailed them as “the best new band in the world,” Krief joined The Dears, an indie rock band from Montreal known for their orchestral, dark pop and dramatic live shows.  Krief’s impassioned guitars graced the band’s music live and on record from 2003 to 2008, and he reconnected with the band in 2010 and remains a member now.  The Dears toured extensively across Canada, U.S., UK, Europe, Japan and Australia, including opening slots for Sloan, The Tragically Hip, Keane, The Secret Machines, and Morrissey.  While on break from The Dears, Krief recorded with Black Diamond Bay, which also featured former drummer of The Dears, George Donoso III.

JD Eicher & The Goodnights sign management deal with Rock Ridge Music

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 18, 2012

JD EICHER & THE GOODNIGHTS SIGN MANAGEMENT DEAL WITH ROCK RIDGE MUSIC

Pittsburgh, PA and Youngstown, OH-based pop-rock band JD Eicher & the Goodnights have signed a management deal with Newark, NJ-based Rock Ridge Music. The band joins other management clients such as Tony Lucca, Brendan James, Todd Carey, and Matt Duke on the Rock Ridge Music roster.

Says Eicher of the new partnership:  “We’re really excited to be signing on with such a great management team! Working with RRM will mean more opportunities for the band and more time to focus on the music.

Says Rock Ridge Music CEO Tom Derr about the signing:  “The band has laid an excellent foundation.  Now we begin the next level together.”

JD Eicher & the Goodnights have had a very busy summer touring in support of their sophomore release, Shifting (which came out in 2011), performing at a number of festivals and in an opening slot for the Dave Matthews Band.  Virgin America Airlines used the band’s song “Level Out” in  the teaser for  the airline’s upcoming movie, “Departure Date.”  (www.youtube.com/watch?v=6N7DczpEbg4)

Forging their diverse musical backgrounds, JD Eicher (vocals/guitar), Ben Portz (keys), Jim Merhaut (bass), and Ryan Kirk (drums/percussion) combine seasoned songwriting, rich vocals, melodic arrangements, and emphatic delivery to establish their own brand of subtle pop; they were named one of the top 10 unsigned bands of the year in 2011 by Alternative Addiction.  The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said Shifting has “the light, poppy quality of British bands Keane or The Script… but with more detail in the songwriting,” while the Uniontown, PA Herald-Standard praised their “mainstream likability that is both charming and contagious.” Pittsburgh City Paper says of the band’s music: “A kind of gentle innocence pervades, as if not trying to grab you as it passes by, but hoping you’ll be touched.”  The Erie Times-News praises JD Eicher & the Goodnights’ “big, open-hearted pop songs with the type of expansive, reach-for-the-sky ambition that graces albums by Coldplay, the Killers and Death Cab for Cutie, among others.”

In addition to the aforementioned Dave Matthews Band, JD Eicher & the Goodnights have shared stages with Coldplay, Hot Chelle Rae, Pete Yorn, Anberlin, Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams, Cartel, Matt White, and many more.  Upcoming tour dates are listed below; a JD Eicher solo acoustic tour run with Todd Carey is planned for December (all confirmed dates are listed, and more will likely be added with Todd Carey).

Nick Gill signs label deal with Rock Ridge Music

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 11, 2012

NICK GILL SIGNS LABEL DEAL WITH ROCK RIDGE MUSIC

Nashville, TN-based pop-rock singer-songwriter Nick Gill has signed a label deal with Newark, NJ-based Rock Ridge Music.  Gill’s first release for Rock Ridge will be his forthcoming album, Waves Are Only Water, which is scheduled for digital release on October 30, 2012.  Says Gill about the partnership with Rock Ridge Music:  “I’m so incredibly excited about signing with Rock Ridge. I’m a huge fan of the artists on the roster, and I’m so thankful that my new record is in such great hands!”

Says Rock Ridge Music CEO Tom Derr about the new signing:  “Nick brings his talent and dedicated work ethic to our roster, adds another great piece to our talent pool, and helps grow our reach overall, which in turn is helpful for every artist on our roster. We’re proud to have him on our team.”

Waves Are Only Water is Gill’s fourth  release (his first three came out while he was still in high school).  Produced by Ed and Scott Cash in Franklin, TN, the album features seven tracks.  Barely out of his teens, the young performer, who was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Fairhope, AL, has already toured the country, been featured in many newspapers and magazines, and received radio airplay, all while juggling high school and performing/touring.

Press has been very positive and supportive of his work thus far.  Where Y’at in New Orleans praised his musical promise and comparing him to a young Jack Johnson, saying, “There’s great raw emotion communicated through his tracks.”  The Mobile, AL Register dubbed his self-titled EP “a whale of a calling card.”  Muzikreviews.com praised his self-titled EP’s lyrical maturity and his “warm and mature beyond-its-years’ vocal ability.”  An early review of Waves Are Only Water from Life-is-Awesome.net placed Gill’s music among luminaries in the singer-songwriter field:  “Tracks like ‘Risky Business’ offer up a slower, darker groove, picking up the melancholic thread laid before him by artists like David Gray and Jonathan Rice, further highlighting his musical growth. His vocals are deep and buttery, rich with a confidence that betrays his age and his music stylings are more focused with his natural ability further developed. There are influences from the likes of modern male singer/songwriters like Josh Rouse, Josh Kelly, Matt Nathanson and earlier John Mayer.”

Gill plans to tour this fall in support of Waves Are Only Water; tour dates will be announced soon.  He will be performing at the annual Hotel Carolina singer-songwriter festival being held in Isle of Palms, SC, which is taking place September 20-22, 2012, at the Windjammer.

Singer-songwriter Brendan James was in the midst of moving cross-country (from California to South Carolina) when he learned that the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team was playing his song, “The Lucky Ones,” in the locker room before games at the London Olympics.  Team member Heather O’Reilly introduced her teammates to the song and started the pre-match ritual.  To cheer the team on while en route, James stopped in Amarillo, TX, at Tarpley Music and recorded a live performance of the song and his best wishes for the soccer team (video clip here:  http://youtu.be/osj1nsoFTzU) and sent the video via Twitter to the players.

Spokane, WA-based pop-rocker Jerad Finck has signed a management and label deal with Newark, NJ-based Rock Ridge Music.  Management efforts begin immediately, with Finck’s EP, Stuck In Your Riddle, slated for digital release on September 25, 2012, and CD release on October 23, 2012.  The 7-song EP will come out via the Rock Ridge Music label arm (with distribution through ADA).  Finck joins other management clients such as Tony Lucca, Ingram Hill, Todd Carey, and Matt Duke on the Rock Ridge Music roster.

Says Finck of the new partnership:  “I am excited about my continuing and growing relationship with Rock Ridge. They have been a constant force over the past year and have really pushed me to grow as an artist.  I am thankful for everything they have done. I can’t believe how far we’ve come over the past year, and now that they are directly involved as management as well, I can hardly wait to see what the next year will hold for us! Ninjas rule.”

Says Rock Ridge Music CEO Tom Derr about signing Finck:  “Jerad’s talent and drive is a nice fit into the Rock Ridge family of artists.”

Finck’s Stuck In Your Riddle has been signed to a co-publishing deal with BMG/Chrysalis, who will represent Finck’s music for film and TV placements.  West Coast director of A&R for Fieldhouse/BMG Jennifer Lyneis says, “I was really blown away by Finck’s music and his proven track record at radio and his many licensing deals in Film and Television. I felt the partnership between him and BMG would be mutually beneficial.”  John Loeffler, President of Fieldhouse agrees and said, “We were completely impressed with his songwriting and were sold after seeing him perform in New York City, we look forward to a long lasting relationship with him.”

Says Finck of his new alliance with BMG/Chrysalis:  “Nothing is more validating as a songwriter than to have a major industry entity like BMG/Chrysalis believe in my craft and get behind what I do. The team within the Fieldhouse Wing have been nothing short of amazing with their support for me as an artist, and welcoming me into their family of artists.  It truly is just so special to me and a dream come true as a songwriter from a small town in Washington.”

Finck’s music hits with delicious grooves, lush melodies and harmonies and lyrical intelligence. Extremely hard-working, he and his band have completed seven national tours covering over 200,000 road miles and 48 States.  Finck has been featured in over fifty newspapers and magazines; including CMJ, Skope, American Songwriter, Amplifier, Acoustic Magazine; has performed on morning TV shows across the country; has had his songs featured in movies and television shows on HBO, ESPN, Discovery, CBS, and NBC, among others; and has released two singles nationally to radio, breaking into the Mediabase Top 40 in multiple formats.  His sophomore single “Runaway” achieved breakout success, peaking at #33 in AC, #42 in HOT AC, and #25 in HOT AC Indicator.

Most recently, Finck’s song “Runaway” was remixed by internationally known DJ/remixer/producer DJ Lynwood (Beyonce, Linkin Park, Depeche Mode) and the collaboration landed the song at #3 on the Billboard Pop Dance Chart on its debut.  Finck is touring in August with Sarah Miles and Ken Yates, leading up to his appearance at the fourth-annual Hotel Carolina in Isle of Palms, SC, in September.  Confirmed tour dates are listed below, with more to be announced.

Riley Etheridge Jr. to release new album in September

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 2, 2012

RILEY ETHERIDGE JR. TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM IN SEPTEMBER

NYC-based Americana singer-songwriter Riley Etheridge Jr. will be releasing his next album, The Arrogance Of Youth, on September 18, 2012, via Rock Ridge Music (with distribution through ADA).  The album features a broad palette of authentic and finely crafted Americana—late-night blues, hard-luck folk, buoyant Bayou soul, barn-burning country.  Etheridge’s third album eloquently and emotionally looks deeply into the highly relatable quandary of “if I knew then what I know now.”

Says Etheridge of the album:  “The arrogance of youth is a thread that winds itself through each of the songs.  It’s about how, as we mature, perspectives in our lives change in surprising ways. A lot of things I knew for sure when I was 19 turned out to not be the case.”

On The Arrogance Of Youth, Etheridge surrounds himself with some of the finest musicians of New Orleans and Nashville (including a guest spot by longtime Willie Nelson harmonica player Mickey Raphael on “Whole New Side Of Me”).  Etheridge tracked the album in both cities, lending a bi-locale aesthetic.  Longtime producer and creative partner Wendell Tilley was on board for this album, furthering the duo’s vision of creating a unique Music City-country-meets-Crescent City-groove sensibility to accompany Etheridge’s deeply confessional storytelling lyrics.

Etheridge was born in South Carolina but spent 20 creatively transformative years in Louisiana, soaking up the region’s unique and rich musical heritage. MusicFog.com succinctly says: “Riley lives in New York now, but you can still track the south in his music.” Etheridge has been favorably compared to Radney Foster, Billy Joe Shaver, and Uncle Tupelo, among others.  His moving lyrics are often singled out in reviews. Innocent Words praised his writing, saying, “Nothing grabs your attention more than Etheridge’s clever word play and finesse with the language of love, lust, and loss.” The bible of hip, modern Americana, No Depression, named him an artist to watch.   Over the years, Etheridge has shared stages with a broad array of respected artists such as Ricky Skaggs, Sister Hazel, Tony Lucca, and Matt Duke, among many others.
