{"id":1374,"date":"2017-05-15T20:41:50","date_gmt":"2017-05-15T20:41:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/skyemediaonline.com\/wordpress\/?p=1374"},"modified":"2017-05-23T20:42:44","modified_gmt":"2017-05-23T20:42:44","slug":"the-eagle-rock-gospel-singers-set-to-release-new-album-in-july-a-rousing-celebration-of-traditional-americana-soul-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/skyemediaonline.com\/wordpress\/the-eagle-rock-gospel-singers-set-to-release-new-album-in-july-a-rousing-celebration-of-traditional-americana-soul-music\/","title":{"rendered":"The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers set to release new album in July; a rousing celebration of traditional Americana-soul music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>May 15, 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers set to release new album in July<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>A rousing celebration of traditional Americana-soul music<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Americana band The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers is set to release a new album,\u00a0<em>No Glory<\/em>, on July 14, 2017.\u00a0 A follow-up to the group\u2019s 2015 debut,\u00a0<em>Heavenly Fire<\/em>,\u00a0<em>No Glory<\/em>\u00a0was produced by Matt Wignall (Cold War Kids, J Roddy Walston and the Business, Sam Outlaw), who also produced the Singers\u2019 last album.<\/p>\n<p>Says vocalist Kim Garcia: \u201cWe slowly started working on this album at the beginning of 2016 with our longtime producer, Matt Wignall.\u00a0 We&#8217;d just come back from a national tour of the US and Canada and had such a great experience seeing so many other bands at the festivals where we performed.\u00a0 We came back and really dug into working on a whole new set of songs.\u00a0 We had so much to draw from, so much to write about.\u00a0 These songs represent every bit of our collaborative efforts as a band, and even more so as a family.\u00a0 They represent our victories, as well as our struggles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>No Glory<\/em>\u00a0was recorded in Wignall\u2019s Tackyland Studio in Long Beach, CA.\u00a0 The band tracked \u201cLay Down Low\u201d and \u201cChurch Fire\u201d as live recordings with him in a historic church in Lincoln Heights, CA. A few guest performers lent their skills on the album: Jeremy Long on pedal steel, Theodore Smith on trumpet, Nathan Jensen on sax, David Maust on organ, and Kelsey Lee on vocals.\u00a0<em>\u00a0No Glory<\/em>\u00a0features remarkably focused vocal arrangements, poignant lyrics, and smooth rhythmic grooves that will set it apart from the band\u2019s previous work.<\/p>\n<p>The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers began as a collective of friends gathering together in the summer of 2010. A choir of up to 15 revived the old gospel spirit with songs like \u201cI Shall Not Be Moved,\u201d \u201c12 Gates,\u201d and \u201cIn My Time of Dying.\u201d Slowly, they evolved into a band of six, and later five, committed to embracing the richness found in early 20th century recordings. Influenced by past gospel musicians such as The Dixie Hummingbirds, Washington Phillips, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe, as well as current bands like The Black Keys, Wilco, and Calexico, the band creates a unique style drawing from rhythm and blues, alt-country, indie rock, and folk.<\/p>\n<p>A rousing celebration of traditional Americana music has always been the hallmark of The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers.\u00a0\u00a0<em>Elmore Magazine<\/em>\u00a0praised their \u201cbold and barn-burning old-school meets new-school blend of gospel, Americana and rock \u2019n\u2019 roll.\u201d \u00a0<em>Heavenly Fire<\/em>, brimming with fiery melodies and country moods, laid the foundation for two successful North American tours, including appearances at prestigious festivals such as Winnipeg Folk Fest, Montreal Jazz Fest, Austin City Limits, and Voodoo Fest of New Orleans.\u00a0 The album also garnered high-profile song placements (MTV, Showtime, Amazon, Discovery Channel), as well as popular playlist spots.\u00a0\u00a0<em>LA Weekly<\/em>\u00a0called their debut album \u201ca rip-roaring, soaring batch of rootsy-flavored originals written by the band\u2019s individual members, who took their songwriting cues from the greatest and most venerable of American trad musical genres.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<em>SpiritYouAllMusic<\/em>\u00a0wrote: \u201c<em>Heavenly Fire\u00a0<\/em>is suffused with that almost\u00a0<em>dangerous\u00a0<\/em>spiritual catharsis, and the result is intoxicating. Gospel was birthed from anguish, desperation, and ecstatic joy, and The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers prove that as there&#8217;s no shortage of them in the world today, the music remains as riveting and vital as ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The band is excited to hit the road with their eclectic mix of alt-country gospel.
