And as you would expect from an artist whose sound takes in such references, his debut record\u00a0<em>Songs From The Hive<\/em>\u00a0is a record of folky Americana and heartbreaking country.&#8221; &#8211;\u00a0<em>Songwriting Magazine<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;A pure, expressive voice and a fondness for lonesome steel guitar&#8221; &#8211;\u00a0<em>CMT Edge<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>New York City-based Americana singer-songwriter Brian Dunne is hitting the road in celebration of his new album,\u00a0<i>Bug Fixes &amp; Performance Improvements<\/i>, which was just released in May.\u00a0 The tour run includes shows with The Stray Birds, Pat McGee, and Lilly Hiatt.\u00a0 (See list of confirmed tour dates below; more dates will be announced soon.) \u00a0Already he\u2019s been busy on tour in 2017, including dates with Joan Osborne, Delbert McClinton, Liz Longley, and Ryan Montbleau, as well as performing on the Cayamo Cruise (along with Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Brandi Carlile) in early 2017.\u00a0 Last year, Dunne supported tours for Will Hoge and Liz Longley, and performed at Off The Record Music Festival and Down The Hatch.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dunne\u2019s first single from the album, \u201cDon\u2019t Give Up On Me,\u201d premiered in February on SiriusXM\u2019s Coffee House, and the second single, \u201cYou Got Me Good,\u201d was released in April.\u00a0 Dunne\u2019s recent appearance on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/nprs-mountain-stage\/id357520844?mt=2&amp;i=385928811\">NPR\u2019s Mountain Stage<\/a>\u00a0aired in May.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI made this record to play live,\u201d says Dunne.\u00a0 \u201cI wrote these songs while traveling around the country and nothing is better than bringing the music back to its natural habitat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Produced by Dunne himself and engineered by Andrew Sarlo (Big Thief, Nick Hakim),\u00a0<em>Bug Fixes &amp; Performance Improvements<\/em>\u00a0is flush with twang and heart, with more than a passing nod to folk and Springsteen-esque everyman rock in its Americana goodness.\u00a0 Dunne found inspiration and song topics everywhere; a conversation with his friend Longley (who sings on \u201cWe Don\u2019t Talk About It\u201d on the album) inspired the lead track, \u201cTell Me Something.\u201d \u201cTaxi\u201d is a song about the pursuit of something invisible and intangible, and the risk that comes with it.\u00a0 \u201cYou Got Me Good\u201d is a song about being a sucker, while \u201cWe Don\u2019t Talk About It\u201d is a reflection on how we treat the people we\u2019re closest to, and \u201cChelsea Hotel\u201d deals with the crutches we lean on when our lives are too difficult to withstand.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe record didn\u2019t really take shape until I came up with \u2018Don\u2019t Give Up On Me\u2019 one afternoon, sitting at my living room table,\u201d says Dunne. \u201cIt seemed to sum up my mission statement for the whole record.\u00a0 It\u2019s about the devotion to maintaining your idealism as the world makes you more cynical.\u00a0 It\u2019s about putting your chips back on the table after you\u2019ve suffered a big loss. \u00a0And if you have to lose again, lose in a big way. \u00a0I love that idea.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dunne grew up in upstate New York, and after graduating from the Berklee College of Music he made his way to New York City where he settled in Brooklyn.\u00a0 In 2012, he released\u00a0<em>The Brooklyn Bridge<\/em>\u00a0EP.\u00a0 That was followed in 2015 by his album\u00a0<em>Songs From The Hive<\/em>, his musical nod to The Band and Bob Dylan, which garnered the attention of outlets like\u00a0<em>No Depression<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Daytrotter<\/em>.\u00a0 He toured extensively following its release, boasting nearly 300 shows in a year and a half where he won praise from fans and press alike.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Brian Dunne Tour Schedule:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jul 24 \u2013 Nectars, Burlington, VT (w\/The Stray Birds)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jul 25 &#8211;
