Nashville-based Americana singer-songwriter Don Gallardo has signed a label deal with Rock Ridge Music.\u00a0 His new album,\u00a0Still Here<\/em>, is set for release on the Nashville label in April 2018. \u00a0With music that walks the line between Americana, folk, and roots-rock\u2014mining the influence of classic 1970s singer-songwriters while still pushing ahead toward something new\u2014Rolling Stone<\/em>\u00a0called Gallardo \u201ca singer-songwriter that is one of the Country and Americana scene’s true journeymen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Says Gallardo about the label partnership: \u201cI\u2019ve been playing music for close to 20 years and had many meetings with people from major record labels to indie. From my first meeting with Rock Ridge Music, I knew there was no BS, just straightforward, positive feedback.\u00a0 I had put so much time, energy, and emotion into this album that it felt rewarding that these wonderful people wanted to work with me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Says Rock Ridge Music President Cynthia Cochrane: \u201cWe\u2019ve been fans of Don\u2019s for a while and when we heard his new record, we knew we wanted to be involved. He\u2019s an incredible artist, as genuine and authentic as they come, and we\u2019re confident that\u00a0Still Here\u00a0<\/em>will be among the best of what 2018 has to offer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gallardo\u2019s forthcoming album,\u00a0Still Here<\/em>, was self-produced, and it\u2019s different from any of his previous efforts.\u00a0 \u201cMy prior albums had almost no co-writes on them; I usually just wrote my own material,\u201d says Gallardo.\u00a0 \u201cThis time, I sought out songwriters that I really respected for co-writes\u2014Tim Easton, Carey Ott, Mando Saenz, Luke Amelang, Robby Hecht, Doug Williams, David Born\u00e9 and Jesse Cole.\u201d\u00a0 The resulting collection includes songs about Gallardo\u2019s son, past relationships, the music industry, the late 16th Century, and some songs with UK references, with a common theme running among them: no matter how grueling life can be, giving up is not an option, and persistence and positivity can prevail over anything.<\/p>\n

Gallardo grew up in Northern California and spent years building his songwriting career on the West Coast before relocating to Nashville in 2008. With four full-length albums, a live acoustic release, and an EP under his belt, Gallardo has earned a devoted audience on both sides of the Atlantic. A road warrior who frequently tours the UK, he earned praise from\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/em>, who named him one of \u201c10 New Country Artists You Need To Know\u201d in September 2017 and called Gallardo\u2019s music \u201cthe intersection of folk, road-worn country and amplified bluegrass, performed by a singer-songwriter who began earning his road-dog stripes before the new millennium.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0No Depression\u00a0<\/em>deemed him \u201cone of those rare gems\u2026 Don\u2019s writing style harkens back to a time when Nashville was overflowing with great storytellers.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Nashville Scene\u00a0<\/em>said Gallardo \u201cwrites intelligently about the boredom and charm of small-town life\u201d and praises his \u201ccountry-rock with brains, charm and experimental impulses that are perfectly integrated into a familiar context.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Glide Magazine\u00a0<\/em>declared that \u201cour ears deserve something that\u2019s righteous, honest and ballsy in just the right spots and Gallardo nails that equation.\u201d\u00a0 His most recent album,\u00a0Hickory<\/em>, received a four-star rating from\u00a0MOJO<\/em>\u00a0and was named one of 2015’s best country albums by\u00a0The Telegraph<\/em>, proof that Gallardo’s career has truly gone global.<\/p>\n

In addition to catching one of his live shows, fans can hear Gallardo’s music prominently featured in films like \u201cJolene\u201d and Jackass Presents \u201cBad Grandpa,\u201d as well as television series such as \u201cThe Vampire Diaries,\u201d ABC\/CMT’s \u201cNashville,\u201d and the Netflix series, \u201cThe Ranch.\u201d<\/p>\n
