Americana artist David Newbould to release new album,\u00a0Sin & Redemption<\/em>, on October 18th<\/p>\n New album is a powerful, 10-song testament\u00a0from a veteran songwriter at the height of his storytelling prowess<\/b><\/p>\n Nashville-based Americana singer-songwriter David Newbould is set to release a new album,\u00a0Sin & Redemption<\/em>, on October 18, 2019 via Rock Ridge Music.\u00a0 Co-produced by Chris Tench and Tres Sasser and recorded over the course of three weeks at Sound Shelter Studios in Franklin, TN,\u00a0Sin & Redemption<\/em>\u00a0is a powerful, 10-song testament from a veteran songwriter at the height of his storytelling prowess, now eight albums deep into his upward-trending career.<\/p>\n Chronicling the seemingly endless cycles of daily peaks and valleys,\u00a0Sin & Redemption<\/em>\u00a0travels a variety of sonic terrains. From the opening gambit singalong of \u201cSensitive Heart,\u201d to the unrepentant resolve of \u201cSmiling in the Rain\u201d (which features longtime friend and former Georgia Satellites frontman Dan Baird on electric guitar), to the raucous, gospel-tinged and strings-drenched rollercoaster rodeo of \u201cDiamonds in the Dark,\u201d to the stripped-down intimacy of \u201cLove You Too Much (Henry\u2019s Song),\u201d\u00a0Sin & Redemption\u00a0<\/em>is full of inherently cinematic songwriting, which is fitting, considering how Newbould\u2019s songs have appeared in a score of TV shows and movies over the years, including\u00a0Criminal Minds<\/em>,\u00a0Dawson\u2019s Creek<\/em>,\u00a0Joan of Arcadia<\/em>, and\u00a0Streets of Blood<\/em>\u00a0(to name but a few of the entries on his lengthy filmographic CV).<\/p>\n The aural palette of\u00a0Sin & Redemption<\/em>\u00a0had to reflect Newbould\u2019s long-term vision. \u201cThere was a point when we were mixing where I thought, \u2018Are we really gonna get away with this?\u2019\u201d he says with a laugh. \u201cIt felt like such a big sprawl of material to tackle, but we were all pretty invested in it \u2014 and then it started coming together. After we listened to an almost-finished mix of the first song, \u2018Sensitive Heart,\u2019 we all went, \u2018Holy cow, we\u2019ve really got a record going here. This is starting to sound the way it sounds in our heads!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n The Toronto-born vocalist\/guitarist became a father four years ago, upping his songwriting game. \u201cSomething seemed to happen after we had our son,\u201d he concedes. \u201cI feel there\u2019s a little more emotional grounding in my songwriting now. I used to write a lot about things that mattered before I really had the ultimate things that matter. Now that I have them, I\u2019m able to flesh it all out better.\u201d That being said, Newbould adds, with a chuckle, \u201cMy wife says I still write a lot of songs about guys who are on the verge of losing everything they have.\u201d<\/p>\n After leaving Toronto, he moved to New York City where he first landed a spot as a guitar player for indie recording artists The Mercenaries, then eventually found his songwriting voice and performed his own material in clubs. He released two EPs (Lab Rat<\/em>,\u00a0David Newbould<\/em>), and developed a loyal fan base through relentless live performing and word of mouth. He then relocated to Austin, TX, where he recorded his third EP (Everyone\u2019s Got Their Own 10<\/em>), his first full length CD (Big Red Sun<\/em>), had videos in rotation on Austin Music Network\/ME Television, and produced an ambitious live CD\/DVD package (The Long Way Home: David Newbould & Friends \u2013 Live From Austin<\/em>).\u00a0 While there, Newbould carved out a niche as a melodic and heartfelt songwriter.<\/p>\n In the spring of 2009, Newbould relocated again, this time to his current home of Nashville, TN. Having spent several years touring, he had by this point demanded attention as a songwriter worthy of notice. The album,\u00a0Tennessee, was released in April 2013 and reached\u00a0#5\u00a0on the\u00a0Euro Americana charts, as well as placing on the FAR (Freeform American Radio) and Roots 66 charts. Between 2013 and 2017, 14 songs he\u2019d co-written with Dan Baird appeared on several Dan Baird & Homemade Sin releases during the four-year period. 2016 saw the release of two David Newbould EPs:\u00a0The Devil Is His Name<\/em>, and\u00a0Live At The Building<\/em>.<\/p>\n Performing Songwriter\u00a0<\/em>praised his \u201cdusty radiance\u201d and said that \u201cNewbould blazes brightest when blurring alternate hues of exhaustion and exuberance.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Austin Chronicle<\/em>\u00a0lauded his \u201cconfident facility with performance\u2026 [he] is fully in command,\u201d while\u00a0Americana UK<\/em>\u00a0cited his \u201csplendid world-weariness\u201d and \u201chypnotic nature and fabulous interplay.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Maverick Magazine<\/em>\u00a0called him \u201ca highly talented singer-songwriter\u2026 a pleasure to listen to.\u201d<\/p>\n Ultimately, David Newbould looks to\u00a0Sin & Redemption<\/em>\u00a0as being the gateway for him to bond with audiences old and new alike, as he takes choice selections from the album onto the live stage with his band to see just how they evolve night after night. \u201cI think it\u2019s going to be an introduction to a lot of people,\u201d he admits. \u201cI sing, I play guitar, and I write songs, and I want to introduce people to the sum of all that \u2014 and I want them to connect with it. Finding and building an audience really comes from doing the work and making those connections.
