Nashville-based singer-songwriter Jessica Campbell is set to release her second album, The Anchor & The Sail<\/em>, on April 30, 2013.\u00a0 The album traces romantic relationships from balmy beginnings to painfully complex ends with bold emotionality. \u201cThe album title represents life,\u201d says Campbell.\u00a0 \u201cThere are things that hold us back and weigh us down, anchors…and things that let us move forward, sails. The music on this album represents a reflection on past relationships in light of my recent marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n

Produced by longtime creative collaborator Cason Cooley (Katie Herzig, Mat Kearney, Matthew Perryman Jones, Sixpence None The Richer, Andrew Peterson)\u2014Cooley also worked with Campbell on her 2009 debut EP and the follow-up Great Escape<\/em> LP\u2014the album was recorded over six weeks in Nashville, with the two meticulously tailoring each song\u2019s production aesthetic.\u00a0 The Anchor & The Sail<\/em> was carefully culled from a pool of songs birthed from a flood of creativity. The album refines the whimsical pop of her previous album but also adds elegantly essential acoustic songs reflective of her intimate live shows. Special guest, singer-songwriter Dave Barnes (Grammy-nominated for \u201cGod Gave Me You\u201d), is featured on the song \u201cMississippi.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the midst of writing for the new album, in April 2012 Campbell signed a worldwide co-publishing agreement with Franklin-based The MWS Group, the publishing company owned by acclaimed artist Michael W. Smith.\u00a0 Campbell previously won \u201cBest Song\u201d in the esteemed USA Songwriting Competition. She\u2019s had a self-penned song cut by Gordon Mote, the two-time Academy of Country Music Awards\u2019 Piano Player of the Year. She has had songs placed in ABC\u2019s Ugly Betty<\/em>, CW\u2019s Hart of Dixie<\/em>, CBC\u2019s (Canada) Heartland, <\/em>CMT\u2019s Melissa & Tye, <\/em>and VH-1\u2019s Tough Love New Orleans.<\/em> Her 2011 album Great Escape<\/em> climbed to the #5 spot on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart. She\u2019s been profiled in American Songwriter <\/em>magazine, Nashville Scene<\/em>, and Oklahoma Gazette<\/em>. Brite Revolution<\/em> says: \u201cCampbell has the ability to turn the sentence of your day from ellipsis to exclamation point.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell was born and raised in the one-stoplight town of Catawba, North Carolina, where she grew up singing gospel, country, show tunes, and singing in competitions. She attended college and graduate school at Middle Tennessee State University outside of Nashville, while continuing her musical journey\u2014writing songs, recording, performing at Dollywood (Dolly Parton\u2019s theme park), singing song demos, leading music at church, and touring.<\/p>\n
