Matthew Perryman Jones teams up with Nashville Ballet again

Additional tour Dates planned in Southeast and Midwest

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Matthew Perryman Jones is set to revisit his partnership with the Nashville Ballet in February when he and choreographer Gina Patterson return with their wildly popular ballet, …but the flowers have yet to come, which premiered in the spring of 2013.  This repeat performance will be part of a Valentine’s Day weekend Nashville Ballet event entitled Attitude, which will take place at the TPAC’s Polk Theater February 13-15.  Jones and Patterson’s performance will also feature Nashville-based visual artist Emily Leonard, who will paint a large-scale canvas live during the performance.  Portions of the painting will be available for sale following the performance.

Attitude is the perfect example of how we combine Nashville with ballet, by bringing together fine arts and the contemporary music that makes this Music City,” Nashville Ballet’s Artistic Director & CEO Paul Vasterling said. “This year’s lineup adds another layer with the creation of visual art live on stage.”

Says Jones of the opportunity to perform the piece again:  “Collaborating with Gina and the Nashville Ballet in 2013 was one of the most inspiring and rewarding experiences of my career. I can’t wait to do it all again.”

In addition to the Nashville Ballet show, Jones plans a number of dates in March throughout the Southeast and Midwest (see tour schedule below).

Matthew Perryman Jones has a voice that calls out with intensity, truth and emotion. As American Songwriter describes, “Matthew’s voice ensnares listeners with a rare authenticity and gritty strength.”  He began his career in 1997 in Decatur, GA, then moved to Nashville to pursue music full-time.  His first solo album, Nowhere Else But Here, was released in 2000, followed by Throwing Punches In The Dark (2006), Swallow The Sea (2008, which featured the break-out hit “Save You”), Until the Dawn Appears (2011), and Land Of The Living (2012).  Performing Songwriter Magazine noted Jones as a talent that follows “in the footsteps of Leonard Cohen and John Lennon.”

One of the most sought-after songwriters in Nashville, Jones built on his accomplishments with his 2013 single, “Anymore Of This.”  The duet, written and recorded with Mindy Smith, was featured on ABC Family’s “Switched At Birth” and “The Lying Game” as well as the ultra-popular series “The Vampire Diaries.”  Jones’ songs have also been featured in the television shows “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Pretty Little Liars,” “Bones,” “Private Practice,” “NY Med,” “Flashpoint,” “One Tree Hill,” “The Hills” and “Eli Stone,” as well as feature films “What To Expect When You’re Expecting” and “Something Borrowed.”

In addition to co-headlining tours with Joshua James, Jay Nash and Katie Herzig, Jones has hit the road with Ingrid Michaelson and shared the stage with Holly Williams, Shane Colvin, Paula Cole, and Patty Griffin.  Jones is also an original member of the nationally acclaimed collaborative artist group “Ten Out Of Tenn.”
