MELODIME TO RELEASE ALBUM ON SEPTEMBER 2nd

MELODIME, a rock band that blends haunting bittersweet melodies with emotionally rich vocals atop a bed of Southern-flavored alt rock, will be releasing its album, Where the Sinners & the Saints Collide, in a deluxe edition (with six new songs and a new band member) on September 2, 2014 via Rock Ridge Music.  With the original album fully funded by their loyal and ever-growing fan base during their “Make an album, change a life” campaign, the band is donating 100% of the profits from album sales to a non-profit foundation they started called Now I Play Along Too, which provides musical instruments and education for orphans, victims of disasters, and underprivileged kids locally and around the world.  Where the Sinners & the Saints Collide was recorded at Black Dog Sound Recording Studios outside of Atlanta, GA with producer Rick Beato (Shinedown, NEEDTOBREATHE, Charlie Mars).

“We want to do something with our lives beyond the music to show people that you don’t have to be famous to make an impact in this world,” says lead vocalist and guitarist Bradley Rhodes.  Inspired by the gift of musical instruments years ago to a family member by an anonymous person (the song “Brothers,” which is new to the deluxe edition, tells this tale in musical form), they are continuing that story and putting instruments into the hands of people who would’ve never been able to afford them.

This idea of looking outside yourself is woven throughout Where the Sinners & the Saints Collide, along with the concepts of coming together, regardless of differences, to do some good. “The album carries strong themes of redemption and has songs about picking yourself up from your boot straps, using those past mistakes and failures to make yourself a better person to help people who may be ‘lost and broken,’” says Rhodes, who adds that the theme picks up where their 2011 album 3 Reasons For Fighting left off.

Virginia-based MELODIME, whose influences growing up included rock from the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s instead of what kids their age were into, began as a trio and is now a fleshed-out quartet – Bradley Rhodes (vocals, guitar), brothers Sammy Duis (piano, organ, bass) and Tyler Duis (drums), and new member Jon Wiley (guitar, vocals) – that plays upwards of 150 shows a year. They have performed up and down the East Coast, including such legendary clubs as D.C.’s 9:30 Club and N.Y.’s The Bitter End, nabbing a spot on the 2014 and 2015 The Rock Boat cruise festival with Sister Hazel, Barenaked Ladies, Tonic, Collective Soul, Edwin McCain, others, and even landing a song early in their career on FOX’s hit show, “So You Think You Can Dance.”
